Recovering from pneumonia. 3/3

Besides using aromatherapy essential oils and medicinal cuisine, I’ve improved my health through an acupuncture and acupressure self-care kit.

While recovering from pneumonia, I needed to avoid cracking my ribs because of a terrible cough. Even if you have strong ribs, it is reported that continuous coughing over two weeks can cause cracks in the ribs. I didn’t want to force myself to stop coughing through Western medicine. But I needed to have a gentler cough for my ribs’ sake.

I found two pressure points to help me soften my cough: rekketsu列欠(れっけつ)on your forearm near your wrist and gyosai魚際(ぎょさい) along the metacarpal bone on your hand. Rekektsu is located on the curve of the ulna. Gyosai is located in the center of metacarpal bone on your hand. These pressure points worked amazingly for me. As soon as I applied acupuncture stickers on those points the coughing stopped. Amazing!

When I use an acupuncture and acupressure self-care kit, I don’t refer to a book; I just follow my body sense. Only after that do I check which points I chose and what meanings they have. I checked which points I chose and was happy to find that my body was very clever. I chose points along the lung meridian based on Chinese medical science.

To use an acupuncture and acupressure self-care kit appropriately, I was helped by this blog: http://ameblo.jp/izoniz/theme-10034081045.html. This author lived in New York until this summer and she sometimes writes blog posts in English.

To unlock the respiratory system’s full potential, I have been using the fish yoga posture and bridge yoga posture. And to boost aerobic capacity, I sometimes hold my breath and sometimes I do deep breezing like swimmers do.
