When you were a child, maybe you just loved to flip pages of books. Even if you could not read the text, you did not care about it and you just loved smell the paper and see illustrations. You didn’t understood it but you knew how to enjoy books well. You were already equipped with the attitude to jump in an unknown new world. You were an excellent adventurer.

But as time goes by, you learnt that you needed to read the books to enjoy them more. You started to understand books. Then, to understand school textbooks, you started to read the same page again and again. Cute illustrations were skipped and the thickness of books made you lose your excitement for books. The thickness of books started to mean how much you needed to understand, so you started to pass by books written in an unknown language. The pressure to understand deprived you of your inner adventure. And you started to be smaller in front of new unknown worlds.

Then you started to feel that reading books was very difficult for you. You could think deeper than before, but you stopped often so it took a long time to finish reading. But if you throw away your preconception of “Books should be understood,” what would happen to you? You can sometimes skip some texts which you couldn’t understand and you can take back your curiosity and start to love unknown new worlds.

I think that you are enough to understand books. So please start to integrate the inner deep thinker and adventurer in you. If so, unknown thick books will smile at you.
